How AdvanceX collects, uses, and protects personal information through this website, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Effective: 26 May 2026 · Last updated: 26 May 2026
1. Who we are
AdvanceX is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website. We provide a tip-management platform to restaurants in South Africa.
2. What information we collect on this website
This website is a marketing site only. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising, and we do not collect personal information from you simply for visiting the site.
The only personal information we collect through this site is what you choose to submit through our sign-up forms, namely:
- Your name
- Your mobile number
- Your email address
We do not collect your IP address, location, or any other identifying details on this page.
3. Why we collect this information
If you submit your details through one of our sign-up forms, we use them for one purpose only:
- To contact you — by email or phone — about onboarding your restaurant onto the AdvanceX platform, and to answer any follow-up questions you have about the service.
We will not use your details for unrelated marketing, sell them to third parties, or share them with anyone outside AdvanceX without your consent.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process your details on the basis of your consent — given by voluntarily submitting them through our sign-up forms — as well as our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our service.
5. How long we keep your information
If you sign up and then go on to become a customer, your details are kept as part of your customer account.
If you sign up but do not become a customer, we keep your details for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, after which they are deleted from our marketing records. You can ask us to delete them sooner at any time — see Section 8 below.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent personal information. The details you submit may be processed by trusted service providers we use to run the website and respond to enquiries — for example, our email, telephony, and hosting providers. These providers act as operators under POPIA and are required to keep your information secure and use it only for the purposes we instruct.
The infrastructure for the AdvanceX platform is hosted on Microsoft Azure, primarily in data centres located in South Africa or other regions with appropriate data-protection laws.
7. How we keep your information safe
We take reasonable, appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse. These include:
- Hosting on Microsoft Azure, which provides enterprise-grade security and redundancy.
- Encryption of data in transit.
- Access controls, so only authorised AdvanceX team members can access submitted information.
- Multi-factor authentication on staff accounts.
- Audit logging of access to systems holding personal information.
8. Your rights under POPIA
As a data subject under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Access — confirm whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy.
- Correct — ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Delete — ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it for legal reasons.
- Object — object to our processing of your information.
- Withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.
- Complain — lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (see below).
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable period, normally within 30 days.
9. Cookies and tracking
This website does not use cookies, analytics scripts, or third-party tracking. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts; your browser may receive a small amount of standard information (such as your IP address) as part of that request, which is handled by Google in accordance with its own privacy policy.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
11. The Information Regulator
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, you have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
